Sweet beginnings...

A very quick share to end the year. I finished this about a week and a half ago so thought I better actually get into the challenge before the 31st! :)
This is for the monthly challenge at D-Lish and as usual the JAP kit is just gorgeous & so much fun to work with. These have got to be one of the best value kits around (just my opinion :D )

Last week my daughter & I moved our craft room. It occurred to me a little while back that my children had a room with lots of natural light where they kept the curtains drawn to watch tv & I had a craft room where I always had the light on so why not swap them over. Plus their room was bigger & as DD takes after her mother, it was starting to get a bit squishy & we needed more room ;D
We moved from this....
To this...

It is still a work in progress but we are sooo looking forward to creating in our beautiful new space.

So, thank you for your support in 2015, hope you all had a lovely Christmas, & are looking forward to a wonderful new year...Jx

November is almost over....

Yes, November seems to have past me by. But, I have not been idle. I may not have been blogging but behind the scenes I have been scrapping for the D-Lish cyber crop at the beginning of the month & I have been very busy sewing this month. Once a week I go to a craft group where there is rather a large of group of quilters & they have been helping me to complete a quilt for my daughter for Christmas. I actually bought this material 10 years ago when she was born so now seemed as good a time as any to complete it :D
Here is a little sneak peek of how it is going....
In the past all I have done is sew squares together but when one of the ladies suggested I could do a "diminshing 9" I thought "yes, I could do that!" and I have to say that I am wrapped with the result so far & can't wait to finish it.
In fact I have got so enthusiatic that I have started a second one for our grandson without even finishing this one first. Oops, may have bitten off more than I can chew! Hope I can get them both finished in time.
Thanks for popping by & hope you have all had a wonderful month..Jx

CKC challenge

"I'm on a roll Mikey!" Another lo using my CKC kit and this one is for one of their challenges as well :) This challenge was to use an idea previously saved. I cut this lo out of a magazine, I would say over a year ago & have had it pinned up on my board all that time. I look at it often & still love it (I even wrote the name of the owner so I could credit if I ever used it!)

Here is a close up...

I love the simplicity of it & knew immediately it was time to use it as soon as I read the challenge. Here is what I came up with...

And here they are side by side...

So thank you Colleen Bashoff from Qld & thank you all for popping by to look.
Have a great day..Jx

I set myself a goal to finish this by the 15th & yes, I am a couple of days late but hey, I finished it! :D
Another "fabulous" JAP kit from D-Lish. They are just so much fun to play with.

This is the mood board & link...

Oh, & I used some papers from my CKC kit.
I still have plenty of bits left to play with & a photo to match so stay tuned...

Thanks for popping by & have a simply fabulous weekend..Jx

my very own mkr restaurant - Stuck?! October challenge

Well I finally have my second challenge for the month completed. This one has been sitting on my desk for a whole week! I just couldn't get time to finish it with kids on school holidays but last night was the night :)

This one is for the challenge over at Stuck?! & here is the sketch & the link...

And, I even used some more of my counterfeit kit. The coloured pp in the corners is the reverse side of the bright green in my kit as well as the other blue toned pp's. Happy days.

Thanks for popping by & have a great day..Jx

@13 - Scrap 365 October challenge

Well, I did it! I was determined to finish a lo yesterday using my CKC kit & at 11.30pm I finally went to bed. I've been out today with the kiddies (school holidays) so it has taken me until now to photograph it :)
This one is for the challenge over at Scrap365. I have turned the sketch on its side...

CKC October kit

You know, each month I faithfully put together my CKC kit. I have so much fun going through my stash, finding bits & pieces and matching it all together & then I usually manage 1 layout from it! One!! Two if I'm lucky. The months just fly by before I realise it. But I still love doing it every month, so here is Octobers....

The original kit by Hey Little Magpie was chosen by Laura & the colours are just divine so I have high hopes for this kit :D

One thing I don't have a lot of is bows but I found 1 sparkly bow & have included some pink twine so I can make some.
It's quite wet & miserable here today & there is no time like the present. I have some challenges printed out & am determined to complete at least 1 lo from this kit before the day is over so off I go....
Thanks for popping by & have a great day..Jx

School Project - Scrap the Boys

When I saw this challenge at Scrap the Boys, I knew immediately what photos I wanted to pick from. The theme is "domesticated boys". My 13yo son had to plan & cook a 3 course meal for his family, for a school project. The part I loved most was when he complained about trying to find something that everyone liked! Welcome to my world!!! :D

I ended up making a few suggestions & knew the creme brulee would be a winner because of the blowtorch :D He did really well, cooked the whole thing himself & even admitted to enjoying it. Not that I've managed to get him back in the kitchen again.
Thanks for popping by & have a great day..Jx

D-Lish September inspiration board

Creative time has been a little light on this month & blogging even lighter but I have just squeezed this one in :D I really do love the D-Lish challenges each month & although I was a little unsure about the colours to start with, I am very happy with my end result.

This is the mood board & link...

Holidays started here yesterday so if Mother Nature can now put on some beautiful sunshine, I should be able to add to my large pile of photos waiting to be scrapped!
Thanks for popping by...Jx

September CKC kit

Hellooo spring. I had a rather slow scrap month last month but am back for September & hoping for a much more productive month :)
First cab off the rank is my kit for CKC
The kit we had to counterfeit this month is "Hello Island Paradise"  from Scrapbook Circle
SC_Aug14_kit1 SC_Aug14_kit6
Gorgeous colours to work with. The first paper I noticed was the aztec type of design & I knew I had some old Prima that this reminded me of so out it came. Found a couple more from the same range & voila, I had the start of my kit...
Can't wait to start having a play with this but must clean up my craft table first! Oh well, off I go. Thanks for popping by & have a great day..Jx

CKC August kit

It's that time of the month again where I get all excited & inspired with new challenges & new kits. And what better place to start than with the Counterfeit Kit Challenge for August. That said, if I am really honest, I struggled with this one! I just really didn't have anything in my (vast) collection that I felt matched this at all! So, I decided to take a slightly different approach this month & picked out a few shapes & colours to build my kit on.
This is the original kit...

And this is what I came up with...
Some yellow, some brown, some blue. Some clouds, some spots, some feathers. With a dash of chip & doilies for good measure. I had some thick twine that matched the colours so have also included that & the rest I will just have to make up as I go along. Still, I am happy with the final result...just ;)
Here is the link to join in the fun & thanks for popping by..Jx

CKC 1000th blog post contest

Ok, so I hold my hand up & admit that I may have got a little over excited when I read about this challenge from Counterfeit Kit Challenge! I have put together a whole kit (alright, alright you got me...I put together 3 kits before deciding on one ;D ) So here it is....
I picked the July main kit from My Creative Scrapbook

And this is my counterfeit kit...

Then onto the challenge. I decided to go with a card challenge to "bring the inside, outside"

And here are my examples...

Cirlcles are punched through the front of the card & an embellie applied to the inside of the card to show through. The pp on the centre card is the reverse side of the black & large floral pp.
I actually completed all of this on the first night the challenge was posted but because we have had some internet issues for the last week I am only just able to post this now. All sorted now so I am back online.
Hope you are having a lovely weekend & thanks for looking..Jx

D-Lish July Challenge - Hello?

It was a case of third time lucky for this lo but I got there & in time :)
I started the background for this 3 times & for different reasons wasn't happy but here it is...
I think I have only missed one just add paper kit from D-Lish & this would definately have to be my most favourite one! Absolutely loved the little containers of sequins & flowers, that felt & hession heart is just to die for and the flairs & notelets...just everything!!! I still have heaps left & think I will make another lo just using this kit :D  The middle of the sequins and flowers look like glue in the photo but are actually white liquid pearls for a little extra bling.

Thanks for popping by & hope you have a great weekend..Jx

CKC 3rd challenge - panel cards

Well, the kiddies are back at school & I am back to my lovely little craft desk.
The third monthly challenge over at CKC was to make a panel card & I have to say that I have fallen in love with these little cards. They are so much fun to make & even my daughter has made one for her teacher who is going on maternity leave in a couple of weeks :D I think I have made about 8 this month now! hehe I wanted mine to stand up so have also added a little strip of cardstock at the back as shown in the last picture

These were so quick & easy you just have to give them a go! Anyhoo, thanks for popping by ..Jx

CKC challenge #2 - combining techniques

Hello again. Today is my second challenge for CKC which was to combine 3 or more techniques. On this lo I have used punching, gesso & altered some chipboard.
Interestingly, I almost always stitch on my lo's & I haven't on this one! Although I do think I will add some. It just doesn't quite feel complete without it :)
Here is a link for the CKC blog. There are some amazing ladies to check out!
Have a great day..Jx

D-Lish birthday challenge #8

Well, I may be running out of time to complete all the challenges but here is number 8!
My Dad & my daughter have a "connection" which I just love capturing when they don't know I am around.
The painting with plastic was fun. I used my dylusions for this & was really happy with the colour although finishing the whole lo was slow going until my latest D-Lish pack arrived this morning & the little plastic flowers just finished it off. I have also used a flair & some freckled fawn goodies. My journalling is inside the pocket.

CKC - Triangle challenge

The first challenge for the month at Counterfeit Kit Challenge is to use at least 5 triangles in a lo. I have a small confession to make regarding this challenge. A few weeks ago I went to a scrapbooking night with the amazingly talented Leann Pearce and we did a layout with the background completely covered in, yep you guessed it...triangles!
So I used that as my inspiration for this challenge
I have had this photo sitting in my "to scrap" stash for so long, just waiting for the right lo & have to say, I am really pleased with the final outcome. So worth the wait hehe.
Thanks for popping by & have a great day..Jx

Counterfeit Kit Challenge guest dt for July

I was VERY excited & grateful to be asked to be a guest designer for CKC this month :D This is the gorgeous kit we had to counterfeit;

Loved the colours but the very first thing I noticed is that I had an almost identical set of stickers as the ones in the lower right hand corner so that was my starting point...
but I didn't have any maroon alphas so I included some white ones with my copics to colour them in. I have had so much fun playing with this & will be back soon with my first show & tell.
Thanks for popping by..Jx

In fact I got on such a roll I didn't get to bed until after midnight hehe.
Here is the link to CSI & the challenge

I am really pleased with how it turned out & managed a bit of a sleep in on Sunday morning as well ;)
